Two-Vehicle Crash Sends One Driver To Shock Trauma

The second driver was not hurt.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Maryland State Police are continuing their investigation of a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in the New Market area Monday morning.

Troopers responding to the scene at 10:45 AM say a pickup truck operated by Louis Wayne Schatz, 69, of Pasadena, Maryland was traveling westbound on I-70 near Route 75 when it struck the guardrail. It re-entered the highway and struck a second vehicle. Schatz’s truck then proceeded across the westbound lanes, entered the median, crossed the eastbound lanes and hit another guardrail.

Schatz was medivaced to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The operator of the other vehicle was not hurt.

State Police say Schatz is believed to have suffered a medical emergency before the crash. Investigators say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this accident..

Troopers from the Commercial Vehicle  Enforcement Division in New Market responded to the crash, along with the Maryhland State Police CRASH Team.
