Flooding Causes Significant Damage to Rt 180

Road will be closed for up to 7 days

Jefferson, Md. (DG) – Torrential rains in Frederick County caused significant damage to a heavily traveled road.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is reporting Route 180 (Jefferson Pike) between Route 79 (Petersville Rd) and Route 17 (Burkittsville Road) is closed because the roadway has been washed out.

The closure is expected to last up to seven days so crews can replace the culvert and repair the road at the Little Catoctin Creek crossing.

Approximately 3,500 vehicles travel on that section of Route 180 each day.
