Frederick Police Identify Man Who Died After He Was Detained By Officers

The investigation still continues.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police have released the name of the man who died after being transported to the hospital earlier this month. He is Terrance Ivor Watts, 26, of Frederick.

Early Monday morning, June 4th, officers responded to the 1200 block of Danielle Drive for man causing a disturbance. Authorities saw Watts acting erratically as if he was under the influence of a substance, and asked that medics be dispatched. Watts fled on foot when officers made contact, but was apprehended along Orchard Way.

As he was being prepared for transport to Frederick Memorial Hospital, he became unresponsive. Medics tried to revive him while en route to the hospital. Police say they were notified Watts died later that morning.

Because of officer involvement prior to Watts being transported, Montgomery County Police are conducting an independent investigation into this incident.

Police say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has performed an autopsy on Watts’ body. But the doctors are still trying to determine a cause and manner of death.

The investigation into this incident by the Montgomery County Police is continuing.
