State Fire Marshal’s Office Charges Salisbury Man For Possessing Explosive Device In Washington County

He will have a bond hearing on Monday.

 

 

Salisbury, Md (KM) A Salisbury man was arrested for possessing of an explosive device in Washington County. Joseph Thorn, 51, was taken into custody at his home on Friday, and charged with possession of an explosive device, and possession of explosives with intent to create a destructive device.

He’s currently being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says Sunday, December 30th, the Bomb Squad was called to the parking lot of the Quaker Creek Apartments in Hancock for a suspicious device. It was determined the device was an improvised explosive. The Bomb Squad rendered it safe, and took it away for evidence. No injuries or damage occurred.

Quaker Creek Apartments is a housing development for low income residents.

The investigation determined that Thorn was attempting to set off the device.

He’s scheduled to have a bond hearing on Monday at 9:00 AM.. .
