Horses Killed In Barn Fire Near Union Bridge

The cause remains under investigation.

 

 

Union Bridge, Md (KM) Eight horses perished in a barn fire on Saturday afternoon near Union Bridge.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services says units were dispatched at around 4:30 PM to the 10,000 block of Bessie Clemson Road, and found a 60-foot by 40-foot barn engulfed in flames. Personnel called for a tanker task force to deliver water to the scene, and water was obtained from a nearby pond..

25 fire fighters from Frederick and Carroll Counties spent one hour bringing the flames under control; the fire was considered extinguished an hour later. There were no injuries.

The cause remains under investigation. No damage estimate  is available, but fire officials say the barn is a total loss.
