Flood Warning For Frederick County



The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
  Washington County in north central Maryland...
  Frederick County in north central Maryland...
  Northern Loudoun County in northern Virginia...
  Jefferson County in the Panhandle of West Virginia...
  Eastern Berkeley County in the Panhandle of West Virginia...

* Until midnight EDT Friday.

* At 554 PM EDT, Doppler radar heavy rain falling across the area
  with one and a half to two inches of rain have already fallen.
  Additional rainfall this evening of upwards of an inch will cause
  flooding of small creeks and streams. The stream gauge on Catoctin
  Creek in Waterford reported a stage of 7.4 feet and rising. At 8
  feet, lowland fields near the creek begin to flood.

  Frederick, Hagerstown, Thurmont, Charles Town, Emmitsburg,
  Shepherdstown, Municipal Stadium, Harry Grove Stadium, Ballenger
  Creek, Robinwood, Brunswick, Walkersville, Fountainhead-Orchard
  Hills, Ranson, Boonsboro, Smithsburg, Braddock Heights,
  Paramount-Long Meadow, Wilson-Conococheague and Williamsport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
