SHA Postpones Closure Of Rt. 464 Bridge over Little Catoctin Creek

It’s expected to take place later this month.

Brunswick, Md (KM) The Maryland State Highway Administration says the closure and replacement of the Route 464 bridge over Little Catoctin Creek has been delayed. It was scheduled  to close on Monday, July eight, but SHA says that’s expected to take place on Monday, July 22nd.

Officials say some materials for the project are being delivered late, and there’s been some problems in installing a temporary traffic signal at Olive School Road and Route 180 to handle the traffic being detoured f from the old bridge  because of that project. But S-H-A says the $4-million replacement  is expected to be completed by spring, 2020.

SHA says the project consists  of replacing the old span which was in 1933, and rehabilitated several times over the years. The new bridge will be wider and have bicycle-compatible shoulders.

About 3700 motorists cross that span each day, SHA says.
