Bomb Squad personnel said it contained  no explosives.

Westminster, Md (KM) The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office Bomb Squad was called out after a resident found a hand grenade outside of his home in Westminster.

Personnel were dispatched to 66 South Church Street shortly after 3:00 PM Friday. Officials say diagnostics conducted on the device determined it was inert, meaning it was free of any explosives which would cause injury.

They say there’s no indication who owns the hand grenade, or how it ended up near the home.

In addition to the Bomb Squad, the Westminster Police Department, Westminster Volunteer Fire Company, the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Northeast Regional Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene.
