Two Frederick Men Charged With Attempted Murder Of Police In PA

One man was seen loading a 9mm handgun

Chambersburg, PA. – Two Frederick residents have been accused of trying to kill two Pennsylvania State Police troopers that were conducting a traffic stop on them in Franklin County.

22-year-old Samuel Throne was driving a Kia Spectra in the Chambersburg area on Wednesday and 21-year-old Rayshard Young was a passenger.

Troopers tried to stop the vehicle in the 1000 block of Wayne Avenue for following too closely to the vehicle in front of it and then crossing the marked lanes of travel multiple times. The Kia sped away.

Police tried to use a patrol vehicle to try and stop the Kia, but Throne drove his car into the cruiser. After the crash, Throne tried to escape on foot and Young stayed in the vehicle.

As troopers approached the car, they saw Young trying to load a 9mm handgun. He was told to drop the weapon and Young complied.

The vehicle was searched and police found cash, a handgun that had been reported stolen, marijuana, and digital scales.

Bail was denied for both men and they are being held in the Franklin County Jail.

A preliminary hearing for both men is scheduled fror October 22.
