Frederick Man Arrested On Eastern Shore Following Crime Spree

It included an attempted robbery & a carjacking.

 

 

Cambridge, Md (KM) A Frederick man was arrested last week in Dorchester County following a crime spree which included a carjacking and the attempted robbery of a liquor store in Cambridge. .State Police say Allen Hooks, 29, was taken into custody on Thursday, May 14th. . He’s charged with robbery, carjacking, and three counts each of 1st- and 2nd-degree assault.

According to a news release from the Maryland State Police last week, officers from the Cambridge Police Department were dispatched for an armed robbery at a liquor store in the Dorchester Shopping Center. Upon arrival, they learned that a white male wearing a dark sweatshirt tried to rob the store, and fled in a blue car.

Troopers say two Cambridge Police Officers saw the suspect leaving a gas station in the 2900 block of Ocean Gateway after the liquor store robbery. The suspect’s vehicle rammed the police vehicle, and then made a U-turn in a parking lot. One of the officers fired at the vehicle, but the suspect was not hit. The suspect vehicle ftraveld down Bucktown Road toward the airport.

While inside the gas station, troopers say the suspect ordered the clerk to surrender  money.  She did and he fled.  The clerk was not  hurt.

State Police say later on, the suspect pulled his vehicle to the side of the  road, and flagged down a motorist. He ordered the driver out of the car. The motorist managed to get his young child out before the suspected drove away.

Cambridge Police Officers located the car and the suspect on Ravenwood Drive. The individual fled on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot chase.

State Police say the car used in the attempted liquor store robbery and the gas station robbery was reported stolen from Frederick County  That vehicle was recovered.

The investigation continues into these incidents.
