Middletown resident and former newspaper reporter Linda Norris is in the race for the Frederick County Council. Norris, 52, filed her application last week to run as a Democrat for one of the two at-large seats on the new county council, which will begin operations in December.
"My concern for Frederick County's future when it comes to our environment, the strength of our schools and the need for viewpoints of all our residents and businesses need to be considered equally has become only stronger during the past four years," says Norris, in a statement. "I want to implement more aggressive plans for our economic and environmental vitality and to push for stronger support for our students and teachers in our public schools and community college classrooms."
Norris ran in the 2010 election for county commissioner.
She is a former Frederick News-Post reporter who covered Frederick County Government. She also served as county public information officer and recycling coordinator.
Norris coordinates marketing for the US Composting Council in Bethesda, and is the owner of a local media and copywriting business.
Primary election day is June 24th, 2014.
