The National Museum of Civil War Medicine has the following upcoming events:

v     “Bringing the Story of War to Our Doorsteps:  Rediscovering Alexander Gardner’s Antietam Photographs” will be displayed at the Pry House Field Hospital Museum from October 5th thru December 1st.  For the first time since the Civil War, Mathew Brady’s famous 1862 photographic exhibition “The Dead of Antietam” will be reproduced.

The Frederick County Humane Society is the county’s oldest non-profit organization dedicated to helping pets and their families.  They are located at 217 West Patrick Street in downtown Frederick.

In honor of Hagerstown’s 250th Anniversary, the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will present a focus exhibition of art and artifacts related to Hagerstown and its founder, Captain Jonathan Hagar.  The exhibit will be from September 18th thru October 28th and will coincide with many of the events planned throughout Hagerstown celebrating this important anniversary.

Monocacy National Battlefield will conduct hikes let by National Park Service Rangers.  The three hikes will take visitors to three different areas of the battlefield, highlighting the events that took place there.  All hikes are free and cover less than 2 miles each.  Allow a maximum of 2 hours per hike and wear appropriate footwear and clothing.  Hikers are encouraged to bring their own water and the hikes will begin at the Monocacy National Battlefield Visitor Center on Urbana Pike.  Hikes are at 9am, 11:30am and 2pm.  For more information please call 301.662.3515
