Marvin Chapel Thrift Shop is now having an end of the season sale.  Clothes by the bagful for the whole family, shoes, dishes, household items, artwork, books, etc.  The hours are Friday and Saturday from 10am till 2pm.  The church is located at 5101 Woodville Road, off of Rt. 144 between New Market and Mt. A Christmas Shop is now open in the church basement at Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.  The shop is open the same hours, 10am till 2pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

The National Museum of Civil War Medicine has the following upcoming events:

v     “Bringing the Story of War to Our Doorsteps:  Rediscovering Alexander Gardner’s Antietam Photographs” will be displayed at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine from December 14th thru February 28th.  For the first time since the Civil War, Mathew Brady’s famous 1862 photographic exhibition “The Dead of Antietam” will be reproduced.

v     The Literature of Prescription:  Charlotte Perkins Gilman-The Yellow Wallpaper will be the new exhibit at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.  This exhibit focuses on women challenging traditional ideas about gender that excluded women from political and intellectual life.  It will be held from December 17th thru January 26th.

v     The Pry House Field Hospital Museum will remain open all winter long with special hours.  Weekends through the end of May, Saturday and Sunday from 11am till 4pm.  A donation of $3 per person is suggested.

The Frederick County Humane Society is offering the following activities:

v     Right now their emergency pet food bank is extremely low on supplies.  For the next two months you may drop off pet food and supplies at Copy Doc Business Solutions.  They are located at 436 West Patrick Street and their business hours are Monday thru Friday from 7am till 6pm.

The Frederick County Humane Society is the county’s oldest non-profit organization dedicated to helping pets and their families.  They are located at 217 West Patrick Street in downtown Frederick.

Attention Veterans.  The Korean War Veterans Organization is a federally chartered organization.  Membership is open to Veterans who served in the Armed Forces from June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 and Veterans who served a tour of duty in Korea from 1945 to the present.  The William E. The Animal Welfare League of Frederick County has received a grant to help Brunswick’s stray, free-roaming cats and their caretakers.  For a limited time, the Animal Welfare League can spay or neuter cats for $15 each.  Volunteers will help program participants secure vetting for cats in their care.  For more information please visit www.awlfc.org and mail in the Fixing Frederick’s Felines TNR Participation Agreement.

The Keeping Kids Safe Project will be hosting a free child safety fair in Shippensburg to provide children with free fingerprints and photographs.  Parents can use the record to turn directly over to authorities anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation.  There will also be community organizations present to provide safety information and entertainment for families.  Join us at the Shively Motors of Shippensburg auto dealership at 608 W King Street from 2pm till 7pm on Friday and from 10am till 2pm on Saturday.

The Beddington Volunteer Fire Department will be holding an event to take pictures of pets and people with Santa for just the cost of a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Also people can make their own posters wishing the children of St. Jude a Merry Christmas as pictures of them will be taken as well and sent to the children.  It will be from 1pm till 4:30pm.
