Dear Colleague,

Is it possible for a faithful Catholic to hold high office in the European Commission? The answer was no a few years ago when Rocco Buttiglione was rejected for a high post because he holds the Catholic teaching on homosexuality. Tonio Borg of Malta holds the Catholic belief on abortion and much else and the Parliament may reject him for EU Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy. Rebecca Oas watched his hearing on Tuesday and reports.

Wendy Wright writes about a new C-FAM paper on the World Health Organization and their promotion of dangerous abortion methods in the UN General Assembly. It is a disgrace the WHO promotes methods for poor Africans that have been rejected in the US and Europe.

Spread the word.

Yours sincerely,

A review of the WHO's "Safe Abortion: Technical and Policy Guidance for Health Systems" just published by C-FAM (publisher of the Friday Fax) has found the agency "recommending abortion practices for women in poor countries that have been rejected by medical experts in the developed world."
