Some of you attended the Dutch's Daughter Meeting that enlightened you about the FACTS on the WASTE-TO ENERGY & RECYCLING facility that the last several boards of county commissioners have been working on and the majority agree it is the safest, most economical way to solve the landfill crisis. [Imagine that - Democrats and Republicans agreeing on something].
I will keep it short and sweet - I have watched this program develop over the last ten years and I have never been more passionate about the right thing to do for county.
The final permits hearing is Wednesday, January 30th, at 6 p.m., at Tuscarora High School. This is our big opportunity to show the environmental regulators that we – the residents, the business owners, the opinion leaders of Frederick County – believe this project is the right choice for our community. We need you and your friends to show the real majority point of view.
Here’s what we need to do to make a difference during the hearing:
- Attend the hearing and wear some green clothing to show your support for this green energy project.
- Testify at the hearing IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE DOING SO. We’re happy to help you with your remarks.
- Engage your network of supports to attend the hearing. Again, we’re happy to help support your efforts with email content, follow-up calls, etc.
We are publishing a newspaper ad in support of the project, with as many supportive signatures as possible. We hope you will consider signing on. The text of the ad is attached to this email.
Please let us know that you’ll be at the January 30th hearing, if we can count on you to testify, and if you are willing to be a signer of our ad by Thursday.
