ABOUT THE SHOW
The Frederick Faith Debate is an open and honest forum for our local faith community leaders to share and discuss their views of the truth.
Thomas Jefferson once said, “The clash of ideas is the sound of freedom”. In that spirit, we seriously wrestle with important ideas… and are free to disagree with one another.
The hope is that through our wrestling we will develop a better understanding of the truth about the most important issues that face us in this world.
If you are a local faith community leader, or know one that would like to participate in a future roundtable, please contact Troy Skinner at the offices of WFMD. Also, if you have a topic you’d like to hear discussed or a question you'd like answered, please share that, as well.
Help meet the needs of the poor in our community at www.frederick48.org.

As Newsweek columnist John Avlon explains in the article below, every American should be outraged over Virginia Republicans’ unconstitutional gerrymandering power-grab.
Senate Republicans’ Tom DeLay-style maneuver is just one piece of a multi-state GOP strategy to win elections by rigging the game: through unconstitutional gerrymandering, right-wing voter suppression tactics, and ultimately by rigging the Electoral College to favor Republicans.
The Presidency itself is at stake – unless Democrats mobilize to defeat these GOP schemes, your vote for President could be put at risk.
Read below for John Avlon’s full analysis.

Republicans’ Nefarious Election Ploy
--By Newsweek’s John Avlon
"Conservatives in the Old Dominion state legislature are quietly plotting what could amount to an electoral coup d’état: pushing forward a bill that would have delivered the majority of the state’s electoral votes to Mitt Romney, days after erasing a Democratic state Senate district in a surprise midsession redistricting. (…)
"Even if you don’t live in the Old Dominion state, this electoral drama matters—big time, because your vote could be invalidated with the White House at stake. Among other things, the naked power grab exposes the essential hypocrisy of the high-minded rhetoric that surrounded Republican voter fraud laws in the run-up to 2012 election—it was always, as critics said and Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai admitted, about nothing more than trying to win elections for their particular political team. (…)
"…this proposal is a perversion of political reform—transparently cynical and self-interested. It is the mark of a desperate party trying to rig the election results to stay in power for as long as it can."
