Ninety Days of Meetings to Mean Life and Death for Unborn Babies

February 22, 2013 2:00 a.m.

Dear Friend of the Friday Fax,

The next 90 days are crucial for life, faith and family. Starting a few weeks ago and lasting into the Spring, the UN has launched a series of annual meetings that are the playground of the anti-life left.

It is at these meetings where global plans are hatched to spread abortion around the world, to redefine the family, to mandate homosexual marriage.

Please know that friendly UN delegates, and there are many of them, are outnumbered and outspent by powerful states like the United States, the European Union, and powerful NGOs like International Planned Parenthood Federation.

As Christian pro-lifers our faith demands of us that we help these good men and women fight back against the radical evil that dances in all around them.

The Commission on Population and Development. The Commission on the Status of Women. The Commission on Sustainable Development.

These are just a few of the meetings that will take place in the coming 90 days at UN headquarters in New York. It was from meetings like these that the Cairo Conference was born, that the Beijing Women's Conference was born, the sites of global battles to protect unborn children and the family from rapacious radicals.

I am happy to report that many of our allied pro-life groups from around the world will be attending the Commission on the Status of Women. Sadly, they all will be going home, leaving C-FAM and the Friday Fax practically alone at the other meetings.

In the coming days, there will be times when C-FAM and Friday Fax personnel will be the only non-governmental pro-lifers at these meetings.

Here is what is at stake.

Radical pro-abortion groups in league with pro-abortion government officials will try to negotiate documents that will take away protections for unborn children. Did you know that most of the world protects the unborn child from abortion? US diplomats, along with EU diplomats and pro-abortion groups want to remove those protections and force abortion on demand on the rest of the world.

We are there to stop them, to help good delegates stop them, and to report to the world what has really gone on.

That is where the Friday Fax comes in. It is the only weekly source of pro-life and pro-family news coming out of UN headquarters. Without the Friday Fax, the evil work of radicals might go totally unnoticed and the people of the world would have abortion imposed on them without warning.

The Friday Fax is the light in the tunnel.

Friday Fax reporters have been covering UN pro-life issues for 15 years. No other group has the institutional understanding of UN issues like we do. We bring that expertise to bear every week in assigning and publishing the Friday Fax.

The Friday Fax is monstrously expensive to produce. Even though it comes out by email, when you send out 20 million emails a year, it is not free. We estimate it costs $200,000 to produce the Friday Fax every year. This includes small salaries for our staff members, expensive office space right near the UN, phones, computers, printing, postage and mailing (for those who do not get the Friday Fax by email).

All of this adds up.

Now, many people say, if only each reader gave one dollar then you would get $390,000, more than enough to produce the Friday Fax for a year. The sad fact is that most people do not help with the Friday Fax. The bulk of our support comes down to a small number of very committed readers and activists.

Are you one of those? Are you one of those who can afford $50? $100? $500? How about $1000?

Please hit your knees and ask for guidance. How much should I give to keep the pro-life lantern burning at the UN?

Pray like there is not tomorrow for our work in defending unborn babies and the family at the UN.

And give as much as you can to support our vital baby-saving work!

Here is my promise and my plan. C-FAM and Friday Fax personnel, several of them, will swarm these meetings, talking to friendly UN delegates, convincing them to stand up for what is right and good. We will not miss a meeting. We will stay late into the night. We will never give up.

And through the Friday Fax, we will tell you everything that happens.

Can you get behind this work?  I pray that you can.

Yours sincerely,

Austin Ruse
President

PS There are dozens of friendly UN diplomats who are eager to protect the unborn child. They are sadly outnumbered by the rapacious radicals. But we will stand with them. Will you stand with us?
