This allows active military personnel free admission to over 1500 museums across the country.
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick is participating in the blue star museum program. This is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense that allows active military personnel free admission to over 1500 museums across the country.
"Blue Star Museum basically opens museums across the country through this program to our men and women who are serving in the armed forces and it allows those museums to waive or encourages museums to waive their entrance fees," George Wunderlich with the National Museum of Civil War Medicine said.
There are museums open in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and American Samoa. This year, there are more than 300 new museums open.
Wunderlich said by participating in this, it is one small way that we can say thank you for your service.
Please contact any museum directly to see if they are participating.
