After obtaining a search warrant, Animal Control and the Sheriff's Department traveled to and from this Falling Waters, West Virginia residence to seize a large number of dogs.
Berkeley County Sheriff Kenny Lemaster says, "They were able to obtain a search warrant, and in doing so, they were expecting to find ten to 12 dogs with the information they had."
It turned out to be more than ten times that number. This, after finding a stray dog wandering nearby.
"They, I guess, decreed the dog as being inhumanely kept or treated, had some various different things wrong with it," says Sheriff Lemaster.
The dogs are now part of the investigation, but more than 100 of them were brought over to the Animal Control building.
"We seized 132 dogs," said Deputy Michael St. Clair. "We went back today and seized 8 additional cats."
