First professional women's golf tournament.

The Symetra Tour - Road to the LPGA unveiled today that tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Challenge at Musket Ridge held August 24 - 26, 2012 at Musket Ridge Golf Club in Myersville, MD. Tickets will be available in advance at local retail outlets, online at www.ChallengeatMusketRidge.com <http://www.ChallengeatMusketRidge.com>, or at Musket Ridge Golf Club.

The Challenge at Musket Ridge introduced an all-inclusive ticket package designed specifically for families. The Family Fun Pack offers four (4) single day tickets, four (4) hot dogs, four (4) beverages, and four (4) bags of chips for only $45.00. For less than the cost of a trip to the movies, a family of four can enjoy an outdoor activity, free parking, and a picnic lunch. The Family Fun Pack is only available online via the tournament website or at the Main Gate during tournament weekend.

Shoppers at the Wegmans location off Rte. 26 may visit the customer service counter to purchase discounted tickets. Tickets purchased in advance at Wegmans are priced at $6 per day ($10 at the gate) and $15 for all three days ($25 at the gate).

 As part of the Symetra Tour’s "Kids in Free" program all children 15 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Off-site parking is available within minutes of Musket Ridge Golf Club and includes complimentary shuttle services to and from the golf course. Fans are encouraged to visit the tournament website for more information.

The inaugural event will be contested at Musket Ridge Golf Club from August 24-26 and will mark the only current women’s professional golf tournament in Maryland. The Symetra Tour will partner with the Frederick County Commission for Women (FCCW) to run the event, which will help support local women’s and children’s charities. The Tour will return to Maryland for the first time since 2007. The Road to the LPGA hosted two previous tournaments in Maryland, including one event in Queenstown, Md. from 2004-07 and one in Beltsville, Md. from 2004-05.

 The Challenge at Musket Ridge is a new event on the schedule for the LPGA’s Symetra Tour and one of sixteen official tournaments played in 2012. Hosted by Musket Ridge Golf Club in Myersville, Md. from August 20 - 26, 2012, the tournament is the only women’s professional golf tournament in Maryland. Part of the "Road to the LPGA," each player in the field is playing to earn LPGA Tour membership in 2013 by finishing in the top-10 on the Symetra Tour money list at season’s end. Along with showcasing the rising stars in women’s professional golf, portions of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Frederick County Commission for Women to support women’s and children’s charities in Frederick. "The economic benefit, beyong the on average of $400,000 which will impact local businesses, is the proceeds that will be donated to Heartly House, The Community Action Agency and Mission of Mercy," said Jennifer Charlton, tournament organizer.

The Symetra Tour - Road to the LPGA, is the official developmental tour of the LPGA and enters its 32nd competitive season in 2012. With the support of its new umbrella sponsor, Symetra, the Tour’s mission is to prepare the world’s best young women professional golfers for a successful career on the LPGA Tour.

2012 marks the first season that the top-10 money winners will receive full, equal status for the following season on the LPGA Tour. The 2012 schedule includes 16 tournaments with stops in 11 U.S. states and Mexico and a total purse of nearly $1.8 million. With more than 500 alumnae moving on to the LPGA, former Symetra Tour players have won a total of 362 LPGA titles, including 39 major championships. Symetra Tour events have contributed more than $5 million to charitable organizations throughout the nation since 1989.
