It's in memory of those who died on Sept. 11, 2001.
The City of Brunswick is holding a 9/11 ceremony at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon at Square Corner Park. The event, featuring comments from the Pentagon and local first responders, as well as music and prayers, will honor the citizens, police officers and fire fighters who died during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11th, 2001.
The Frederick County Commissioners will also hold a 9/11 ceremony at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. But unlike past events which were held at Winchester Hall, this year's will take place at the Independent Hose Company at 310 Baughmans Lane. The county says future 9/11 ceremonies will occur other fire halls so that members can showcase their equipment, personnel and the services they provide to the community.
The Commissioners invite all citizens to attend.
In past years, the county's 9/11 ceremony was telecast live on Cable Channel 19, but not this year. However, it will be videotaped, and shown on the county's government channel at a later date.
