A Walkersville man has been arrested by police for raping a woman late Sunday night.

Around 9:45 p.m. officers with the Frederick City Police Department were flagged down in the area of the 500 block of N. East St. by someone saying they had just picked up a woman who had jumped out of a moving car.

The victim told police that she was raped by an unknown man in the 100 block of E. South St. after she got out of her car from grocery shopping.

She told detectives that after the rape, the suspect forced her into her car and drove her to the 500 block of N. East St. where she jumped out. The man fled the area with her car.

Hours later police were able to identify Montrelle Denard Bowie as the suspect. At 1:00 p.m. on Monday police were told he was near E. All Saints St. and S. Carroll St.

Bowie was chased from the area by friends of the victim to the 100 block of S. Market st. During that time, there was a fight between the victim’s friends and Bowie. He was stabbed in the back and then ran into a convenience store.

Police arrived and took Bowie into custody.

Bowie has been charged with rape, kidnapping, car-jacking and theft.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Bowie was also taken to the hospital for treatment of a stab wound.
