An accomplice got away.
A Berkeley County, West Virginia Sheriff's Deputy on routine patrol early Tuesday morning arrested a juvenile near the Independent Bible Church in Martinsburg.
Authorities say the deputy noticed a pickup truck with two males inside parked in the rear lot of the church on Hedgesville Road around 4:15 AM. When the deputy approached, one of the males fled while the other remained.
The Sheriff's Office says it appears the two were trying to steal the church's air conditioning unit. The electrical wire leading into the building had been cut.
Because he was a juvenile, the male being detained was turned over to Vickie Douglas Center.
Charges are pending against the individual who ran away.
