Community Organizations To Host 7th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

On Monday, January 21st service activities will be held throughout the day beginning at 9 a.m. to honor Dr. King's legacy.

Community organizations have partnered together to host the 7th annual Martin Luther King JR. day celebration and day of service in Frederick County.

On Monday, January 21st service activities will be held throughout the day beginning at 9 a.m. to honor Dr. King's legacy.

The opening celebration will begin at the Sunnyside New Life Community Church located at 4521 Mountville Road. Local, state and federal officials will read proclamations and make brief presentations. The day will continue will service activities at the church including building renovations, general clean-up and other activities.

From approximately 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a number of other service activities will take place at the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County, located at 413 Burck Street. These activities range from making cards for veterans and children with cancer as well as community clean-up projects.

Adults and children are invited to volunteer and those under the age of 14 must be supervised by an adults. All volunteers are required to register in advance and can quickly register for the activity of their choice at www.bgcfc.org which has a complete list and description of service projects and activities.
