The Tourism Council of Frederick County is helping local non-profits to better their program. John Fieseler, executive director, explains what the program has to offer...
"It is a grant program that the tourism council came up with shortly after the hotel tax legislation passed for Frederick County, so every year we take a portion of the money we receive from the hotel tax and make that available to local non-profit attractions and events for both product development grants as well as certain marketing expenses," said Fieseler.
He said, in the past years the program has proven to strongly help market events for the non-profits awarded.
"They saw great success by having the extra resources to not only grow their event but also to spread the word about it," said Fieseler.
He said applications are due by Monday, April 1st and announcement of funding awards will be made by mid May.
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend one of two workshops on Thursday, February 7 or Tuesday, February 19th.
