Rt. 26 near Albaugh Rd. was closed for more than three hours.
One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Frederick County.
State Police say they were dispatched to Route 26 near Albaugh Road in Unionville at around 6:30. Troopers say a Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound on Route 26 when it crossed the yellow double line, and colllied head-on with a Saturn, which was heading westbound. The operator of the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. That person's identity has not been released, but State Police describe him as a 49-year-old Woodbine man.
The operator of the Jeep was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where authorities say he's listed in serious but stable condition. He's described as a 24-year-old Sykesville man.
The east and westbound lanes of Route 26 were closed for about three-and-a-half hours while troopers conducted their investigation. The State Police were assisted with traffic control by CHART from the State Highway Administration.
