9th grade athletics will continue in Frederick County Public Schools next year.

The Frederick News Post reported that the Board of Education voted unanimously last night to continue funding the program during a public meeting. 

An early draft of the fiscal 2014 budget had ninth-grade athletics among the school system's proposed budget cuts.  Eliminating the program would have saved FCPS nearly $85,000, but hundreds of residents expressed concern about the elimination.
