Hagerstown Police are investigating an impostor whose offering to re-connect a customer's electric service. This person is approaching individuals as they are moving into a new home.

Officials remind residents that each employee of the Hagerstown Utilities Department carries a photo I.D. badge, and customers are encouraged to ask for it, if they don't see it.

All electricity connections and re-connections are handled through the Customer Service Office at Hagerstown City Hall, and employees who connect, disconnect, read meters and maintain the electric system do not accept cash. Payments are made at the Customer Service Office.
