A warrant has been issued for James Vanwinkle of Pa.

Frederick Police have identified a suspect in Wednesday's robbery of the Suntrust bank on Rosemont Avenue. A warrant has been issued for James Raymond Vanwinkle, 36, whose last known address was Greeencastle, Pennsylvania.

Police say during the robbery, a suspect presented a note to a teller, and was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of money. Authorities say he fled in a white Honda Accord.

A vehicle chase began after an officer observed the accord at 7th street and Route 15. It involved Frederick police, Sheriff's Deputies, State Troopers and the State Police Helicopter. The pursuit ran through the city and the county, and had to be called off due to heavy traffic, and the possibility of injuring pedestrians and other motorists.

The vehicle was found behind a business in the 100 block of South Market Street. Police say Vanwinkle is the owner of that white Honda Accord.

There were no injuries from the robbery or the chase.

Anyone who has information about the robbery or Mr. Vanwinkle's whereabouts is asked to call Frederick Police. They can contact the lead investigator, Detective Mike Morgan, at 301-600-1259. They can also remain anonymous by calling the Tip line at 301-600-TIPS {8477} or send an e-mail to FPDCRIMETIP@frederickmdpolice. org.
