The suspects are being held at the Washington County Detention Center.
There's some new developments in connection to the multiple fires that were intentionally set in Washington and Frederick Counties. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office announced today that the case has been solved.
There were several people that were arrested for these serial crimes. It all started on March 17th, on Connor Road, in Williamsport. Two trash cans were found to be on fire and then since that time, 40 additional fires occurred, both in Frederick and Washington Counties.
Authorities arrested Tyler Murray, 20, of Williamsport, Sarah Mathews, 19, of Adamstown, and 20 year old Olivia Hannah, of Frederick, and 20 year old Morgan Neild of Hagerstown.
They are charged with a series of malicious arson offenses. All are being held at the Washington County Detention Center.
On March 17, 2013 2 trash containers were found to be intentionally ignited by investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Nearly 40 additional fires have occurred since that date to include: mulch, mailboxes, hay bales, vehicles, barns and a garage.
Investigators have determined boredom was the initial motive of the first fires and progress into a personal vendetta against the local Deputy State Fire Marshal by Tyler Murray. The estimated damages resulting from these fires is $200,00.
