Skateboarding is prohibited on downtown streets & Carroll Creek Linear Park.
The warmer weather means more people outside riding their bicycles and skateboards. With that in mind, the Frederick Police remind residents about the city ordinance covering bikes, skateboards and other non-motorized vehicles.
Authorities say skateboards and bikes are prohibited on sidewalks in the downtown, and only bicyclists 10 years of age and under can ride on the sidewalks.
Skateboards are also prohibited on the Carroll Creek Linear Park. Bicyclists are urged to ride in a responsible manner on the Carroll Creek Linear Park. Any stunts or dangerous tricks are prohibited and subject to fines.
Police say officers will enforce the city's ordinance covering non-motorized vehicles through education. Violators could be fined $100.
Authorities also encourage bicyclists to secure their bicycles to the new bike racks throughout the downtown, which were recently purchased by the Downtown Frederick Partnership.
