Delays could happen starting June 15th.
Effects of the Federal budget cuts due to the sequestration hasn't hit the Hagerstown Regional Airport yet but could happen in the near future according to James Jenkins, the spokesman for the Washington County Government.
"We are part of the FAA Control Tower Program. Now, we were supposed to be hit by sequestration on May 5th but on April 5th, the FAA actually extended that deadline so the impacts on us won't happen until June 15th," Jenkins said.
He said delayed flights have been seen at most major airports.
"We have flights to Dulles [International Airport] but haven't seen any residual effects yet," Jenkins said.
Jenkins said there are plans in process to help relieve the problems of flight delays at other airports so the Hagerstown Regional Airport is not effected.
