The Frederick Board of County Commissioners today reappointed Bill Hopwood and appointed Anthony Bruscia to the Frederick County Planning Commission for five-year terms starting on July 1, 2013.
In addition, the board appointed Brian Duncan to fill a term on the Ethics Commission that will end on June 30, 2014. The board also appointed Gwen Romack to the Ethics Commission for a three-year term starting on July 1, 2013.
For the Planning Commission openings, the commissioners interviewed Mr. Bruscia, Sue Fox, John Greenwell, Mr. Hopwood and Ron Peppe.
For the Ethics Commission, they interviewed Mr. Duncan and Ms. Romack.
Board President Blaine Young said, "We are pleased that Mr. Hopwood and Mr. Bruscia will serve on the Planning Commission and Mr. Duncan and Ms. Romack on the Ethics Commission due to their extensive community involvement, educational background, experience and interest in issues of importance to our county. We believe that Frederick County citizens will be well served by these appointments."
The Planning Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.; third Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m., and additional meetings take place on the fourth Wednesday of each month as needed.
The commission functions as an advisory body to the board on many planning and zoning related issues such as the comprehensive plan, region plans, rezoning, text amendments, and water and sewer planning. The commission has final authority over site plans, subdivision plats, Planned Unit Development Phase II plans, and determination of adequate public facilities for new developments.
