The wreck early Sunday morning killed a Gaithersburg man.
The Maryland State Medical Examiner's Office says the cause death of a Gaithersburg man killed in a vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Frederick County was an accident, and the manner of death was blunt force trauma.
The Sheriff's Office says Daniel Ledaye Swader, 20, was driving his vehicle southbound in the 8800 of Gambrill Park Road when he failed to negotiate a curve. The passenger side tires went off the road. The driver over corrected, causing the vehicle to spin. The car continued northbound, went off the road and struck a tree.
Swader was pronounced dead at the scene.
A front seat passenger in the vehicle, Trevor Edgar Robison, 20, of North Potomac, was not injured in the crash, and refused medical treatment.
Authorities says a deputy was in the area of the 8000 block of Gambrill Park Road investigating reports of vehicles racing when he was informed about the crash. The deputy responded to the scene, and provided first aid to Swader, but was unable to remove him from the vehicle due to the vehicle's damage. Fire and rescue personnel extricated Swader from the car. Authorities say the cause of the collision was failure of the driver to control speed while negotiating a turn, and failing to drive within a single lane.
The crash still remains under investigation, and anyone with additional information is asked to call Dfc. Nathan Rector with the Frederick County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit. His number is 301-600-6490.
