A suspect was taken into custody Thursday evening, about an hour and a half after a robbery occurred at an M&T Bank branch on Old National Pike in Boonsboro, according to a Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
The man was apprehended in “close proximity” to the bank at 7620 Old National Pike shortly after 5:30 p.m., said Deputy 1st Class Carly Hose, the public information officer for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon entering the bank, the suspect approached a teller and presented a note, Hose said. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department was not releasing the contents of the note on Thursday.
The suspect, who did not display weapons, fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, Hose said.
Police were called to the scene at 4:05 p.m., according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Law-enforcement units, K9 tracking dogs and the Maryland State Police aviation unit were involved in the search for the suspect, Hose said.
