He's been sentenced to one-year of unsupervised probation.
A Frederick Police officer has been found guilty of assault. The verdict was handed down in District Court on Thursday. The judge sentenced Corporal Martin Holt to one year of unsupervised probation.
The Police Department says Corporal Holt's police powers have been suspended, and he has been assigned to desk duty. He's a 14-year veteran of the Frederick Police.
The Department's Internal Affairs Unit is conducting an investigation.
Authorities say Holt was arrested last year after officers were sent to the 1400 Block of Key Parkway for a verbal altercation that turned physical. The victim said her boyfriend struck her several times in the chest and once in the back. The suspect was identified as Corporal Holt.
Police say investigators applied for charges, and Holt was charged with 2nd-degree assault.
Authorities Holt is still suspended, pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation, and an administrative hearing process.
