Slow ticket sales have forced a group in Middletown, Md., to postpone a raffle drawing for a 4-bedroom home valued at $475,000. Amy Benton, project manager, said the Middletown High School Sports Club sold just over 3,000 tickets at $100 each. "They needed to sell 6,000 to hold the drawing. 6,000 tickets is a lot to sell, but it's good news that we were granted an extension from the state," said Benton. Without it, state regulations would have forced the club to cancel the raffle and return $99 to each contestant. "It's a lot of people to reach. The volunteers are working really hard to make it happen," continued Benton.
The goal was to raise at least $1.5 million to renovate the Knights' stadium.
The drawing will now take place September 13, at the Hollow Creek Golf Club, at 7 p.m.
Middletown High School alumni Mark and Donna Gaver donated the house to the sports club.
