The driver failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road and into a ditch.
Maryland State Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a Knoxville man on Tuesday night.
State Police from the Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched at 11:12 p.m. to Rt. 67 north of Rt. 340 after receiving calls that a vehicle that drove off the road and into a culvert.
Troopers say the accident happened when Roger Latham Jr, 43, was driving his car southbound on Rt. 67 and failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road and into a ditch.
Latham received severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rt. 67 was closed for three hours while the accident was being investigated.
