Another fun summer is headed our way with Celebrate Frederick kicking off the 2013 Summerfest Family Theatre this Thursday, June 20th at the Baker Park Band Shell. This will be going on every Thursday, except for the fourth of July week, until August 15th with great entertainment for all kids and even their parents. All acts are set to perform at 10:30AM.
First heading to the stage will be The Milkshake Trio, who are a musical group that has been singing together since 2002 and has been featured on PBS kids, Noggin/Nick Jr., and discovery kids with their energetic and lively music. They are set to perform June 20th.
On June 27th, LeSole's Dance Project is scheduled to perform. This dance group formed in 2003 and has traveled throughout the United States. These performers are sure to get you on your feet and dancing along with them with their different dances.
For July 11th, Mr. Jon and Friends will be hitting the stage with his children's music. They started working in the children's department of downtown Frederick in 2009. Since then they have performed for different children events.
The Rocknoceros are scheduled to perform on July 18th. They are a group of three guys that have taken Washington, DC by storm with their upbeat children's music. They hit the childrens music scene by storm in 2005 and have been unstoppable since.
On July 25th, expect to see Mr. Brown The Clown. Mr. Brown The Clown is a local favorite and will bring a smile to not just childrens faces, but also their parents. You can look forward to some juggling and pantomime plus much more with his performance.
Musicians known as, Cello Fury, will take the stage on August 1st. They are a rock band that has three classically trained cellists and a rock drummer. They perform their own high-energized original music. So be prepared to be blown away with their amazing instrumental skills.
Shakespeare Alive, presented by Maryland Shakespeare Festival, is scheduled to perform on August 8th. Something that sets Shakespeare Alive apart from all of the other performances is that it is acting. They will be performing some of Shakespeare's greatest plays and are sure to get the audience to interact with them.
The final performance will be August 15th and performing is The Diggity Dudes. They are a musical group who play upbeat and hip music for the kids and even their parents. Their music will get you on your feet and get you dancing.
Following The Diggity Dudes is a special summer social with games and giveaways, along with a special program from Docs in the Park. This will take place in the Carillon area of Baker Park from 11:30am to 12:30pm. All performances are free and Celebrate Frederick asks that everyone coming to the event bring a canned food item to donate to our local Food Banks.
