It occurred on I-70 at Rts. 15 & 340 westbound.
The Maryland State Police say all lanes which were closed early Thursday due to a tractor trailer accident have reopened.
At around 2:37 AM, troopers responded to the crash on westbound Interstate 70 at Routes 15 and 340 westbound. That's where a truck driver lost control of the rig, which left the roadway, struck a guardrail and then tore out 100 feet of the guardrail. It then struck the concrete bridge abutment above Ballenger Creek Pike.
The collision sent debris down to Route 351, causing two additional accidents on Ballenger Creek Pike. The impact also ruptured the tractor trailer's fuel saddle tanks, spilling diesal fuel on Route 351.
State Police closed the ramp from I-70 to Routes 15 and 340 westbound, as well as all lanes of travel on Ballenger Creek Pike while the State Highway Administration spread sand on the roadway to absorb the diesal fuel.
