A three vehicle crash shut down Eastbound I-70 for approximately 45 minutes Monday.
Maryland State Police, in Frederick, say a tractor trailer hauling an oversized load became disabled and had stopped on the right shoulder near the 37 mile marker on top of South Mountain. Investigators said a 1998 Mitsubishi dump truck was traveling in lane 3 and attempted to pass the tractor trailer, however, it struck the left side of the oversized load, which was sticking slightly out into the travel lane. This caused the dump truck to overturn and slide forward
Two people injured were taken to Meritus Medical Center, in Hagerstown. A third person was flown to Shock Trauma, in Baltimore. The investigation is continuing.
