The State of the City Address was delivered Monday by Frederick Mayor Randy McClement. In his speech McClement said "As we move into the final few months of the 60th Administration's term in office, I want to share with you our achievements and the positive direction we are moving as a community."
"We have successfully managed the City's financial health, moved carefully forward with important capital projects, expanded our commercial base and maintained public safety," he continued. "This has not been an easy task, but one we can be proud of and one we will continue to do, over the few remaining months of this Administration," said McClement.
The County tax rate is lowered to offset the cost of services not provided by the County for City residents. As a result, for a second year, City residents will directly receive the savings in County taxes and when City and County property taxes are combined. "We have taken steps to meet with the bond rating agencies to help ensure we maintain our positive AA bond rating," he said.
He said the proposed Hotel and Conference Center for the downtown area is still on track. "We are moving closer and closer," said McClement.
