A household hazardous waste drop off event is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th. It will be held from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon at the Frederick County Public Safety Training Center at 5370 Public Safety Training Place, just off of Reichs Ford Road.
Residents can bring materials such as rechargable batteries, fuels, thinners, solvents, insecticides, pesticides, fungicides, household cleaners, pool chemicals, stains, sealants, mothballs and pharmaceuticals. Compact and fluorescent light bulbs are also accepted.
But radioactive materials, biomedical waste, firearms, ammunition, explosives, fire extinguishers and freon tanks will not be accepted.
Items that are normally accepted for recycling or disposal at Department of Solid Waste Management facilities, such as solidified paint, motor oil, tires, lead-acid batteries, regular household trash or recyclables, will not be accepted at this event.
Only residential household hazardous waste will be taken. No commercial waste.
There is no charge to residents for the disposal of household hazardous waste on Saturday.
