Some were involved in vehicle crashes.
The Frederick Police Department says 12 motorists were arrested over the weekend for driving while intoxicated.
Authorities say these arrests included drunken drivers involved in crashes as well as vehicle stops conducted by officers. No one was hurt during the vehicle crashes.
Police say the arrests resulted from aggressive patrol enforcement, and a DWI saturation initiative.
In a statement, the Police Department says it will continues its efforts to fight drunk driving through aggressive traffic enforcement, and a number of DWI grants. Officers also say they will be pro-active in enforcing Maryland's motor vehicle laws regarding driving while intoxicated.
The Frederick Police say they thank citizens who reported intoxicated drivers through anonymous phone tips.
