Francis Scott Key Mall, located in Frederick, Md., did pretty well for the early opening of Black Friday sales. "We saw a great amount of traffic from about the 8:00 p.m. time-frame on Thanksgiving night, until about 2:30 a.m. The mall was very busy, the anchor stores, mainly JC Penney's and Macy's," said Heather Ernst, Marketing Director. "Merchants who opened at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving reported that they were happy with sales and met their quota," she continued.
According to the Consumer Electronics Association, clothes have been the most popular gift purchases, with tech gifts, such as Tablets and Smart-phones coming in second, followed by toys.
"Foot traffic picked up, again, on Saturday. It wasn't too many people Sunday, but we are optimistic and hoping for a good holiday season. Santa photos are available through Christmas Eve. Pet photos are on Monday nights at 6:00 p.m.," said Ernst.
