A student is charged

A Tuscarora High student has been arrested for assaulting a teacher. Dale E. Weeks, 18, of Frederick is charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct and disrupting school activities.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the school at around 1:40 Wednesday afternoon for the assault. An investigation revealed that the teacher reprimanded Weeks for his use of foul language, and asked him to leave the classroom. As he was being escorted to the office, authorities say Weeks shoved and pushed the teacher, who fell to the floor.

Weeks fled the school building, but was arrested a short time later in a field across from Tuscarora High.  He was taken to the Adult Detention Center for processing.

The teacher was treated in the school's health room.
