Josh Pederson, the CEO of United Way in Frederick County said a local team is looking help those people out by participating the public health leadership program.
"We are concerned that about 10% of our population doesn't have access to health care or health insurance with regards to dental care specifically so we want to reduce the oral disease among the low income and uninsured residents in our community," Pederson said.
The team comprised of leaders from DHMH, Frederick County Health Department, United Way of Frederick County and the Frederick Regional Health Systems, hopes to lower the amount of people who visit the emergency room with dental problems and possibly open a dental health clinic so they can access affordable health care.
