Police say a Gettysburg man held a 17-year-old girl against her will when he allegedly wrapped his arms around her, kissed her and touched her.

The incident is one of many, involving two teenage girls, in which James R. Young was charged last month.

Young, 46, of 60 Chambersburg St., Apartment 1, faces felony counts of false imprisonment and corruption of minors, as well as two misdemeanor indecent-assault counts for the incident with the 17-year-old he allegedly kissed. Additionally, he faces a felony count of corruption of minors and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault, corruption of minors, stalking and making terroristic threats, for incidents involving another teen.

That teen, a 17-year-old from Gettysburg, reported to police on April 12 that Young over the past two to three months had often made inappropriate comments to her and touched her without her consent as she walked to work, according to documents filed with Magisterial District Judge Thomas R. Carr. The girl told police that Young had grabbed her hand, hugged her, grabbed her butt and attempted to kiss her, and that she repeatedly told him not to touch her and to stay away from her, the documents state.

She told police that she had seen Young follow her as she left her residence and she is afraid of him, according to the documents. He had also appeared at her place of employment and tried to touch her, the documents state.

Two days after the girl contacted police, officers received a call from another 17-year-old who said she was assaulted by Young.

That girl told police she had gone to the address at which Young lives to visit friends in another apartment, but she could not get in the building because it was locked. Young was standing outside the building and asked the girl if she needed help. When she said she needed to get inside, he unlocked the door for her and led her upstairs, court documents state.

Young allegedly asked the girl to come to his apartment, and she declined. Young then grabbed her and began hugging her, then kissed her on the mouth twice without her consent while rubbing her butt, court documents indicate. The girl told police she tried several times to walk away, but Young kept pulling her back to him, according to court documents. She further related that she felt she couldn't leave at all and, if she tried to leave, Young might hurt her, the documents state.

The girl was able to get away and called police from her friends' apartment, the documents state.

All charges against Young were forwarded to Adams County court following a preliminary hearing last week before Carr.

Young remained in Adams County prison last week in lieu of $75,000 bail.

If convicted of all counts with which he is charged, Young faces a maximum sentence of 43 years in prison.
