Four adults and a juvenile are charged.
Four adults and one juvenile have been charged in connection with 10 vandalism cases in the Sam Hill development near Mount Airy. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says Patrick Cook, 18 of Mount Airy, David Smarrelli, 19, of Frederick, Andrew Szkotak, 18, of Frederick, James Poe, 18, of Mount Airy, and a 17-year-old youth are each charged with three counts of malicious destruction of property over $500, six counts of malicious destruction of property under $500, conspiracy to commit malicious destruction of property, and malicious destruction of property scheme.
The four adults were charged through a criminal summons, and the teenager was referred to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
The vandalism occurred during the early morning hours of April 27th. Residents who live along Lomar, Manor and Skyline Drives reported damage to their homes, mailboxes and vehicles.
The cost of the destruction as reported by the victims was $7,760. In two cases, the victims' vehicles sustained damages of $2,000, and, in another case, damage of $800 was done to a front door and window.
The cases were closed by the Sheriff's Office Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Team, or PACE.
