Crash In WV Kills 3 People

Investigators say the vehicle hit a tree in the median at a high rate of speed and then split in two pieces.

An accident late Wednesday night in West Virginia has claimed the lives of three people.

The Berkeley Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a crash at 11:53 pm on Interstate 81, about three miles south of Martinsburg.

Police say they found a 2000 Pontiac Gran Prix, with Virginia license plates, had been involved in a serious accident.

Investigators say the vehicle hit a tree in the median at a high rate of speed and then split in two pieces. All three people in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed it, to give them a call at 304)267-7000.
